Just a little update to share with you the latest "news" around here.
We have gone back to diapers. (Almost had ya' didn't I?!)
Yep. The potty training is officially over. And not "over" in the way I wanted it to end. But after 3 months of making a little progress, then regressing,.....then mama, who doesn't cry, being brought to tears at the frustration of constantly cleaning poopy and wet underpants.....we are DONE.
And, I am trying to be okay with it. Trying to feel like I didn't fail at potty training. I mean it wasn't me we were training. (Right?!) But after three months of it not "clicking", we just had to wave the white flag.
So we are back in diapers. I didn't want the diapers to feel like a punishment for Andrew, so I calmly explained to him that he wasn't ready for the big boy underpants and he needed to wear diapers for a bit longer. And? He agreed!
We will try the diapers for at least these next two weeks, when our schedule will be very hectic. Then, maybe we will give potty training a fresh start.
Although I am back to changing man-sized poopy diapers, at least it is better than crying while changing man-sized poopy underpants!
Oh, and this diaper-wearing three year old has just informed us that he wants to be a Fireman when he grows up. Or potty trained....whichever comes first.

A positive for you: You don't yet have to deal with taking a preschooler to poop at a public establishment. Enjoy that for a little longer. I'm sorry for the setback. :( He will be potty trained eventually, and I hope the next round is without tears. Another happy note, Ben will probably potty train himself by watching Andrew. Yay for two boys!
I found your blog through Melissa's and have been a devoted reader for two years:-) I also have two boys and potty training my oldest was the worst experience! We worked at it for MONTHS, and then finally about 2 months before his 4th birthday it clicked, literally overnight! Seriously, he stood in the hallway one night right outside the bathroom door and peed all over the carpet. And he got a spanking. We were leaving on a 14 hour car trip the next day so I figured that it was pointless to try to even attempt the potty training while we were gone. But he surprised me and had absolutely no accidents while we were driving. We were gone almost a week, and during that week he had only two accidents, and was virtually accident free from that point on. It amazed me, but when he decided that he was ready, it was a done deal. And on a positive note, my second son potty trained not long after he turned 2, and was much, much easier:-) So enjoy not having to run to the potty for now, and have faith that he will potty train eventually.
