Andrew Funnies

Andrew is learning so much so fast and it amazes us everyday how much he actually understands! For example, this conversation took place the other night as I was giving Andrew some medicine before the babysitter (my wonderful cousin) came over:

Me: Andrew here take this yummy medicine before Aunt S comes over. (I had actually fixed him up with some night-time medicine. It was purple. Yes it was 5 o'clock in the afternoon, but I figured the babysitter would not mind if Andrew was a touch drowsy. Yes he actually has a cough and a runny nose, so the medicine was needed.)

Andrew looks at the purple medicine in the tiny cup, then out the window; then looks back at the purple medicine, then out the window.

Andrew: Mama, I need light outside medicine. I need light outside medicine.

Aahhh. Tragic mistake, mama. Tragic. You see, the "light outside medicine",or what some would call daytime medicine, is orange. Not the purple nighttime medicine he was offered.

And this example? Shows just how much he still has to learn:

Andrew asked for "alot" of hot dogs at lunch one day. When I asked him how many hot dogs he wanted to eat, he replied quite seriously, "Zero hot dogs. And thirty chips."

I am pretty certain he thinks zero is bigger than all the other numbers he knows. Which kindof throws a kink into things when he asks for zero of something.

"Mama I want zero hot dogs."
"Mama I need zero apple juices."
"Mama I need read zero books."
"Mama I stay in bath zero more minutes."

I try to reason with, "How about just one more hot dog/apple juice/book/minute."

Which, of course, is met with a resounding, "Noooo mama. Noooo. Zero more hot dogs/apple juices/books/minutes."

At this point I just have to take a deep breath and laugh because there is NO point in trying to explain the concept of zero to this two year old!
