You Say It's Your Birthday....

.....well, it's my birthday too!

I wasn't sure if I was going to mention on my blog that today is my birthday. I didn't want to be all "Hey it's my birthday!" and then you feel pressure to leave me a "Happy Birthday" comment. I know. I am just thougtful like that. Even on my birthday.

But then I changed my mind and decided to just go ahead and mention it. And by mention it, I mean dedicate a whole post to the fact that TODAY is MY BIRTHDAY.

And, it is a big birthday.

The big 3-0.

Yep. Today I am thirty.

I haven't been looking forward to this day since I turned 25. I mean, really? Does anyone say, "I can't wait until I turn thirty. Then I get to do lot's of 'grown up stuff' like fold laundry, pay bills, and get the oil changed in my car"? It's not like your 16th, 18th, or 21st. Where each birthday indicates some sort of independence and maturity. Nope. Thirty just indicates that you are old. (I kid. I kid. Thirty is the new twenty, right?)

But, now that the day is here, I find myself feeling quite indifferent. Like it is just another birthday. And, in reality, I guess it is. I would like to say, "I don't feel thirty". But then what exactly should thirty feel like? Now, don't get me wrong, I am not excited about turning another year older, but I am just thirty, right? Maybe I just haven't had enough time to realize and process the fact that I am now in my third decade of life. By tomorrow I may be curled up in the fetal position on the bathroom floor with a bottle of hair dye, wrinkle cream, and an AARP magaizine crying "Not Me!" a la Nancy Kerrigan.

And when I look back on this past decade of my twenties, I realize how much change life can change in ten short years.

In my twenties, I:
Finished college
Started graduate school
Finished graduate school
Lost my daddy
Moved 5 times
Began dating "the one"
Became engaged to "the one"
Planned our wedding
Married "the one"
Bought two cars
Sold one car (the other will be sold after I am 30)
Bought two houses
Sold one house
Held a "real job" for two years
Became a stay at home mom for three years
Birthed two babies
Miscarried two babies
Got a dog
Attended a 10 year highschool reunion

That's alot of milestones for one decade. Do I have any milestones left? If so.........

Bring it on 30! Bring it on!

I said something about my childhood the other day and then said, "Well, that was 25 years ago..." I nearly had a heart attack.

Hope you had a fabulous day!
