Too Good to Be True

I haven't written about this because it really is too good to be true. I mean, I am actually scared that when I post this, my "good thing" will go away.

But, because I know for almost certain that the four people who read this blog don't work for Mediacom, I may be safe.

Remember when, a few months ago (six months to be exact), I wrote about calling Mediacom to see if they could lower my cable/internet bill? They were more than willing to lower my rates under a six-month special they were running. However, they warned that when the six months were up, my bill would go up, and I would not be eligible for another special for another six months.

Well, just as Mediacom said, when the six months were up my bill jumped from about $120 a month to about $160 a month. And, being the budget-conscious wife that I am, I refused to pay $160 a month for cable and internet. (Actually, we did pay the bill....I just refused to continue to pay that much for tv and internet!)

I knew I had to make another phone call to Mediacom. From the conversation six months ago with Mediacom, I knew that I would not be eligible for another special. Which meant that we would have to cut out some services. I was anticipating sacrificing fast internet, dvr, and movie channels to save on my bill. It sure would be a tough six months without these luxuries, but I was willing to "go without" for my family---because that is how I roll.

Anyway. I called Mediacom, explained the jump in my bill, and asked what I needed to do to lower my rate each month. The nice lady explained, "well, you are not elibigle for another special for six months, but hold on, and let me talk to my manager."

I held on the other line, dreading life with a slow internet. Well, at least I would get more chores done around the house, read more, start a few projects, if I wasn't on the computer....I told myself.

"Mrs. Ward", the nice Mediacom lady started, "I just spoke with my manager and we can give you all your services that you currently have, internet and cable, for $88 a month. For two years. Plus, your december bill will be pro-rated and will cost about $54 for the month".

Ya'll. I 'bout fell out of my seat. (Cause you know I was at the computer enjoying the last few minutes of my super-fast internet). I said, "You mean, I can get all the same services for my cable and internet for eighty-eight dollars a month. For TWO years." She affirmed.

She then mentioned something about how I will never be eligible for another special in my entire life. But, TWO years of internet and cable for Eighty Eight dollars a month!!!! I just cut my cable bill in half!!!

Which means that with all the money I am saving, I can now SHOP on my super-fast internet.

Wow! That's awesome! That's as much as our cable bill alone! I wish I could get our utility bill cut in half!
