I, I Will Survive

I don't catch colds. Maybe a runny nose and itchy eyes from allergies. Or a sinus infection from allergies. But, I don't catch colds.

I think my immune system is still on overdrive from receiving allergy shots, allergy medicine, and antibiotics for allergies for most of my life.

Or so I thought.

Last week I developed a sinus headache that lasted about two days before I started running fever on Thursday night. Then came the sorest throat, most congested nose, worst headache I have ever had. Ever. (Or at least the worst that I can remember). My sinuses were sooo backed up, my ears were hurting from the pressure. Basically, every part of my head, ached.

Thankfully, Rob ran out and purchased me some dayquil/nyquil and Emergen-C. Now, I don't know if ya'll have heard of Emergen-C, but that stuff is pretty much da' bomb. For realz. Mama told me about it, and she is the expert on cold rememdies. She did retire from the school system, so she should know how to keep germs away. And care for colds.Anyway. If you don't know, Emergen-C is basically 1,000mg of vitamin C. In individual packets that you mix with water. The tangerine flavor is actually quite good. (Mama also came to the rescue on Friday morning and kept Andrew all day for me. She really is the expert on colds!)

So, I have been loaded up on dayquil and Emergen-C all weekend. Which means that I don't remember much between Thursday night and this afternoon. My head was so foggy from the medicine and cold that I could barely complete a thought. Even this morning in church, I couldn't follow the preacher.

I skipped a dose of the dayquil this afternoon and the fog in my head lifted. I am feeling much better, and I think I will survive this nasty cold. Except that now I have one dry, red eye. Doesn't hurt, just feels dry. And is the color of a tomato. Maybe some nyquil will clear it up?!

Yuck! I hope you get well soon!!! It's definitely no fun taking care of a baby while you are sick!
