I came thisclose to putting away Andrew's summer clothes last week. We have had a chilly week or so down here with highs in the 60's. For South Georgia, these temps are below average for this time of year. In fact, twice I have had to pull my potted plants inside and cover my ferns because the temperature was to go below freezing!
As I was about to start folding away my son's tshirts and shorts, I remembered that the weather in South Georgia tends to be quite fickle. You see, even though Tuesday could be unbearably cold and windy, the previous Sunday was probably blazing hot. Sunday you could be donning wore shorts and flip flops, yet on Tuesday bundling in fleece and flannel pajamas.
Growing up in South Georgia, I became accustomed to this wacky weather trend. I remember wearing sweaters and boots at Thanksgiving then, just a few weeks later, donning tshirts at Christmas. One Halloween you may be trick-or-treating in flip flops, the next year you would need a parka to go out in search of candy.
So, while I desperately want to box up Andrew's summer clothes, it would be smarter for me to just keep his tshirts hung right next to his fleece jacket.
