Mom Thing??

When I was pregnant with Andrew, everyone told me how wonderful children were, how they were a blessing, etc. etc. etc. No One told me how difficult the first months would be, how exhausted I would become, or how my body would change.....forever!! Don't get me wrong, I love being a mom. I just wish that someone would have given me a little "heads up", ya know?!
Being a new mom, I was wondering, hoping actually, if any other moms have experienced the following strange phenomena:

You find the remote control in the fridge and your cell phone charger in the trash.

You are driving down the road and suddenly realize you have know idea where you are going.....keep driving, pass the road to your house, and realize you are going home. (Okay, this only happened to me once, and I live in a new town, but still....totally freaked me out!).

You call your mother-in-law and when she picks up and says "Hello, how are you and Andrew doing today"; You can't remember who you called and how she knows you so well.

You stick your tongue out and make funny faces at your husband to make him laugh. When he doesn't laugh and instead makes a strange face, you realize that you were, in fact, sticking your tongue out and making funny faces.....to your HUSBAND!

You think to yourself..."I am going to call my granddaddy and wish him happy birthday, right now while I am thinking about it". Find your cell phone, pick up the baby, put him in the stroller, go for a walk, give the baby a bath, put him to bed, fix dinner, watch tv, make funny faces to your husband, go to bed, wake up and realize...I don't think I made that call!!

Is this a mom-thing, or am I just going crazy?!
I have been suspecting the latter for sometime, now.

Hilarious!! Okay, the whole "Find the remote in the fridge" thing is really not so bad when your child is old enough to have done it. Then you can blame it on him and not feel so bad. But when you KNOW that you are the one who did it, it is scary.

There is a technical term for all the other stuff...it's called "Mommy Brain".

I have really been enjoying your blog. And yes, I totally know what you are talking about. One time I found a block of cheese in the tupperware cabinet. And I think I am the one who did it! David was too little to be blamed.

I also loved your Flexiblewise post. Babywise is great but yeah, it's not perfect for every situation. Sounds like you are a good and wise mama. Keep it up!

Mine was finding the milk in the pantry and not able to find the thing that I just had in my hand!! It's sooo funny to read the blogs of those with young children because I've soooo been there...Your brain cells will return, not completely, but the milk now remains in the frig!!! :)

That is hysterical! Just today, I found 3 perfectly good cups in the trash. I thought...hmmm, why did Tony throw these away? Then I realized.... :/
