I think some of my explanations went right over that two year old's head. And some may have just sounded down right silly. I mean, how do you explain that Jesus was dead and then came back to life to a two year old who doesn't even know what it means to be dead! And, I sure didn't want to get into that conversation.
So, I did the best I could. And since he is still talking about Santa Claus, I figured that if he didn't know about the Easter Bunny this year, it won't hurt him.
Anyway, we have had some interesting conversations regarding Easter. He points out that the grass is green, that the trees are beginning to have flowers or leaves, and that some of the flowers are beginning to bloom.
As we sat down to lunch one day, Andrew was looking out the window from his seat at the table. He exclaimed, "The grass is green, mama! Trees have flowers!" He paused and then looked back out the window, "Where Jesus, mama? Where Jesus?" He makes me smile! A lot!
Although we have not been able to practice hunting eggs as much as I would have liked, he has still been successful on two egg hunts so far this season. He likes to say he is going "hunting" for eggs.
The first hunt of the season was hosted by our Sunday School class at Sherwood. It was damp, dreary, and chilly. But the kids had a great time! Probably because we loaded them up on chocolate and sugar before we let them loose on the eggs.
