Okay. So I didn't mean for yesterday's post to be a teaser. But we will go with it.
Andrew is really into Mickey Mouse. Like really. I have seen that child literally fly across the room and into his blue chair when the theme song for Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comes on tv. And then he sits with his mouth slighly parted as he zones into the tv program. It is actually disturbing. Now, to his credit, he has begun to sing songs when the characters sing, or answer a question aloud when Mickey asks, "Which shape is a triangle shape?", or laugh when Goofy mis-pronounces Mouseketool.
But, for the most part, he is in his own land when Mickey Mouse Clubhouse comes on tv. And the pictures from yesterday? Well the costume was a gift from my generous Aunt M. When I asked Andrew if he wanted to wear a Mickey Mouse outfit, he heartily agreed. I showed him himself in the mirror and he gave a huge grin. Then demanded to actually watch Mickey Mouse Clubhouse while wearing said costume. Thank you inventor of DVR, because I have no less than 3 episodes of Mickey Mouse Clubhouse saved. For Andrew's viewing pleasure.
So when I saw that Mickey's Rockin' Road Show was going to be at the Albany Civic Center, you better believe I was the first person in line to purchase front row seats. Well not actually front row. But really good seats.
It was a date with just the big boy and his parents. Baby Ben had to stay with grandparents. When the show began, he was quite timid. Just sititng and watching wide-eyed and mouth open. Then we bought a $10 bucket of popcorn. So he sat wide-eyed and now began methodically shoveling handfuls of "gormet" popcorn into his mouth. While all the other kids were jumping, clapping, yelling, Andrew just sat and ate. Rob and I began to wonder if spending the money on these seats was worth it due to Andrew's lack of enthusiasm.
Then Rob bought an apple fritter. Which was basically suger, grease, and more sugar. And I kid you not, this is what happened:
First bite of apple fritter: Andrew began moving and swaying in his seat.
Second bite of apple fritter: Andrew stood up in his seat and danced.
Third bite of apple fritter: Andrew was in the aisle jumping up and down.
I am not exaggerating here! That apple fritter that hyped my kid up to the point of actually enjoying the live Mickey Mouse show, was the best decision we made that night.
Another good decison that evening? Driving Andrew straight to a playground after the show to let him burn off any remaining sugar.

That's hilarious about the apple fritter! I have a feeling Clay's first "big show" will be something to do with Sesame Street! Since Andrew loves Mickey Mouse so much, maybe you've already got his Halloween Costume for this Oct ;)!
Christy, you crack me up...only you and Rob would take your tot to the playground at night in Albany, GA! I bet Andrew loved every minute of your date!
