Saturdays are My Mornings to Sleep In

Rob, being the wonderful husband that he is, takes Andrew out for breakfast most Saturday mornings and, often, to run "man errands". Leaving me and Baby Ben to sleep in.

6:00am-Andrew comes into our room. I return him to his bed explaining, "It is not light out, yet. Stay in your bed".

6:30-Andrew comes back into our room. Again I return him to his bed with the same "not being light out" explanation.

7:00-"It's light out, mama. It's light out. Time to get up. Get up mama".

7:01-"Okay, Buddy. Remember today is your day to eat breakfast with Daddy. Wake him up."

7:03-"It's light out mama. Take off cobbers. Time to get up. Get up mama". Me: "Andrew, wake daddy up. Ya'll are going to go eat pancakes." Andrew (yelling): "Daddy time to get up. It's light out"

7:05-Rob is in the shower. Andrew is in our bed. Poking at my eyes.

7:07-"ROAR. ROAR." Me: "Andrew Baby Ben is still sleeping. Please do not roar at him. He will wake up. Go see what your daddy is doing in the shower."

7:11--"Mama, Baby Ben wakin' up. Baby Ben wakin' up." I crack my eyes open to find Andrew vigoursly rocking the cradle in which Baby Ben is (was) sleeping.

7:12-"Andrew DO NOT rock Baby Ben's cradle. He will wake up. Come get in the bed with me and let's go back to sleep"

7:17-Awaken to "I fix it mama. I fix it." Find Andrew taking apart the cool mist humidifier that is in our room to help with Baby Ben's cold.

7:17:22 seconds-Jump out of bed fearing water is about to be dumped all over the carpet. "Andrew go check on your daddy and help him get dressed."

7:19- Rob: "Andrew help daddy pick out a shirt to wear to go eat pancakes."

7:24-"Mama, give Baby Ben monk-monk (Andrew's monkey that he sleeps with)". Find monk-monk covering Baby Ben's entire face.

7:25-Remove monk-monk from Baby Ben's face.

7:27-"Baby Ben wakin' up, mama. Baby Ben wakin up". Me: "Andrew get your hands off of Baby Ben. Stop touching him."

7:28-Rob takes Andrew to go get dressed for their morning out. So I can sleep in.

7:35-"Mama, kiss and five. Kiss and five." (Andrew's routine before leaving). Give him a kiss and a high five.

7:37-Silence. The two year old has left the building.

7:43-Baby Ben wakes up. Hungry.

7:50-Nurse Baby Ben.

8:15-Baby Ben falls asleep while nursing. Sweet!

8:17-Baby Ben starts grunting. Oh, please, No!

8:18-Baby Ben has blow out in diaper.

8:19-Then falls back asleep.

8:20-Contemplate the damage if allow Baby Ben to continue to sleep in dirty diaper that has now leaked on his pj's.

8:23-Decide to change diaper and outfit. Leave Baby Ben on bed, asleep, while retrieve new outfit and diaper.

8:25-Return to find Baby Ben has spit up all over the clean sheets on my side of the bed.

8:26-Change Baby Ben.

8:27-Baby Ben wide awake.

8:28-Put Baby Ben in bouncy seat.

8:29-Make coffee. Eat muffin. Complete survey from Republican National Committee (Because I am political like that.)

8:45-Pump.

9:00-Baby Ben falls asleep in bouncy seat (a first!)

9:02-Crawl into Rob's side of the bed to avoid the spit up on my side of the bed.

9:05-Am WIDE AWAKE.

9:07-Force self to stay in bed and relish the quiet house and being able to just lay in bed.

10:30-Awaken (yes, did manage to finally fall asleep) to "Eat pancakes mama. Eat pancakes".

Saturdays are my mornings to sleep in.
