Maybe I Need to Take a Class in Genetics

When I was pregnant with Andrew, I just knew that he would look like me. After all, Rob looks nothing like anyone in his family (seriously, when you look at a picture of Rob, his sister, and his parents, you think "where did he come from?"), so I figured that I would have the stronger physical gene to pass on to our children.

Then comes July 1, 2007. Even 7 weeks early, there is no doubt that Andrew is Rob's son. Almost a carbon copy. I really can't believe that I just gave birth to a son who looks nothing like me! Instead he looks like my "random" (and I mean that in the sweetest way) husband!

Even now, I find pictures of me when I was Andrew's age and I tell everyone, "Ignore my hair. And cover up my nose and mouth. And I look just like Andrew. See?"

Okay. So Andrew does have my eyes.

Surely, Rob's genes aren't strong enough to produce two carbon copies of himself? I mean, Andrew must have been a fluke (a beautiful fluke, of course!). Baby #2 has to look like me.

And we all know by now that Baby #2 looks just like Baby #1 who looks just like my husband!!

I console myself with the fact that my niece looks just like me. (Okay. If I am being totally honest, she looks like my brother. But, I look like my brother. So....... technically, my niece looks like me!).
But surely Baby #3*..............
*no, I am not pregnant!

they are both precious! jim complains that the girls don't look like him - none of them..all with brown eyes & brown hair to top it off...but they sure did get his personality so maybe you'll see yourself in that way through your kids :)
