It Was The Pie......

......or the salad with greek dressing, or the lasagna, or the texas toast that I ate on Sunday night which sent me into orbit (labor) on Monday morning. Because I was supposed to be having a baby TODAY. Not last week.

I started with this: (photo actually taken last Sunday night!) And a few hours later, ended with this:
It all started early on Monday morning when I began having "stomach issues" and "stomach cramps". Seeing as how I have never been in labor before (induced, c-section with Andrew), I honestly thought that I had a nasty virus. A few hours later, however, when the stomach issues subsided and the stomach cramps intensified, Rob and I decided we better get to the hospital.....just to check things out.
Even though I had take four "breaks" for "stomach cramps" while making the short trip inside the hospital, I still wasn't 100% convinced that I was in labor until the L&D nurse announced, "You are 6 cm dilated and moving too fast for a c-section or an epidural. How do you feel about a natural delivery via VBAC?"
Uhhh. Totally NOT what I had planned!
But. I went with it. Well, most of it. I did get an epidural when I was 8 cm dilated. Which did provide relief for about 45 minutes until Baby Ben arrived. I loved that 45 minutes.
And the recovery? Sooo much better than a c-section. When I was still doped up on pain meds after the c-section, I declared, "I think I want 5 children". This was obviously before I tried to get out of bed, roll over, cough, or even laugh. All very near impossible for at least a week after the c-section.
This time? There was only about a 1 hour window after delivery when I seriously considered that Ben would be our last. And then I realized that I could get out of bed, walk, roll over, cough, and even laugh.
I think I want 5 children.

I'm glad they were able to give you that epidural for at least a little while! I didn't think you were going to be able to get one!! Hmmm... so you think that was better than a c-section?? He's beautiful and you look great!!! Can't wait to meet him!
