Proper Vacation

Rob and I always talk of trips that we need to take; however, we just never find/make time to do them. We want to go to Texas, Las Vegas, NYC, New Orleans, Baltimore, LA.....just to name a few. We are all talk and no action, though!!

Imagine my surprise when Rob announced the other night that he "really" wanted to take a proper vacation.....soon!! Not just a long weekend, but a vacation during the week, also. Not just a free beach house or lakehouse (which we love and are very appreciative!), but staying at a hotel.....I am such a sucker for staying at a hotel.

I told him I would go where-ever he wanted to go.....just plan it up and find a babysitter for Andrew. I knew he was serious when he pulled out the computer and started "searching". Driving distance from Atlanta---Rob's parents agreed to keep Andrew.

I was shocked, astounded, in disbelief when he actually called the hotel, spoke to a representative, and ......BOOKED us a PROPER VACATION!!

We leave on the Wednesday before Labor Day to head to Atlanta to drop off Andrew. Then Thursday morning, we are headed to .................wait for it.......................................

NASHVILLE, TN!! Who knew you could take a proper vacation in Tennessee. But, we are, and we are super pumped about it.

We are staying at the
OpryLand Hotel for three nights and four days. Included in our "special package" is a dinner cruise with live music, a ride on the Delta flatboat....in the hotel!, passes to the Country Music Hall of Fame, and even a show at the Grand Ole Opry. I believe the show is Southern Gospel.....not my fave......but should be an experience in itself going to the Grand Ole Opry.

In researching Nashville, we have found tons of other fun things to do as well. We may go to
The Hermitage, the Parthenon, or Belle Meade Plantation. Or we may just relax and do nothing. I have heard that the OpryLand Hotel is so big, you could spend all your time there!!

The last time we went on a proper vacation was our honeymoon....I think. Watch out, Nashville, TN.....here we come!! (And, thanks wonderful husband, for planning this fabulous surprise!)

That is awesome. Rob gets major points for that! I think the last time Kris and I went somewhere out of state (other than Georgia) without kids or another couple was our honeymoon, too!!

Good for you! It's funny all the things you have planned. When Joshua and I took our last mini vacay, we were so excited to be able to do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! We barely got out of our PJs and we did alot of napping! You will really enjoy Nashville (make sure you see Elvis' museum!!)and staying at the Opry - the verandas are incredible.
