Andrew you are still my favorite big boy. You love to play puzzles and swing with me and wrestle with daddy. (Mama's don't wrestle. Neither does Baby Ben......yet). You also love to play with cars and trucks, blocks, flashlights, jumping on mama's bed, swimming, and jumping off of any piece of furniture. Oh, and racing. Everyone's favorite ;)
You love to count. Anything. You can count by single digits to forty; then by tens to 100. You know your ABC's, colors, shapes, and coins. You can recognize your name and what letters a few words begin with. You can name me, daddy, gigi, pa, nana, and yodi by our first names. You have just started singing songs. Out loud with the correct words.
Performing on stage is still not your favorite thing. I think you get overwhelmed by all the people watching you. You did move just a tiny bit at the VBS program this year. But, by yourself, in the comfort of your own home.....you LOVE to dance. We cut on the music and groove. Mama and baby Ben included.
Speaking of home......you love to be here. When you are upset, tired, or just plain grumpy you often whine that you want to go home. I'll be honest, it can be annoying when we are three hours away from home. And aren't returning for a week. But I love knowing that I have made this home a place of comfort for you.
You love your mama. Which I love. About a month ago you informed me that I was your "best friend". You don't know how happy that made me. I mean, you like me.....you actually like me! Despite our challenges, I am still your best friend.
You have just started to become a touch bossy. With statements such as "Come here right now." These are fine. Except you tell them to me! So. We will be working on that this year.......
You love, love, love your little brother, Ben. You have had interesting ways of showing that love (poking in the eye, pulling across the floor, rolling over), ways that made mama want to beat her head against a wall, but you have loved your brother since the day he came home. You were a little clingy and cried when we dropped you off at school for a few months after the birth of Ben, but other than that, you have been wonderfully sweet to your baby brother. I cried the first time you told him you loved him, unprompted. You love to make him laugh and you are quick to try to make him feel better when he is sad.
Your daddy and I are just beginning to see glimpses of your personality that God is going to use for His glory, to further His kingdom. We pray that we can be the kind of parents to train you up according to His ways, His will. We are beginning to think that might look different. We'll see. Your sweet charm and winning personality are sure to lead other's to Christ.
Some funny things you have said recently are:
"Mama. I have a question."
"That's not what you said."
"Mama. What. Are. You. Talking about?"
"But Gigi said I could have a cookie." And she had. Two hours earlier.
"Let me show you a magic trick."
"Mama, maybe one day I grow up be big like Daddy. I wear his clothes and sleep in his bed."
As he was jumping off the steps in the pool, "Mama! My jump not working! My jump not working!" What's wrong with your jump? "It need new batteries."
I love you. My favorite three year old big boy.
