Nine Months

For weeks now, I have been telling anyone who asks that Baby Ben is 9 months. Then silently reminding myself that he was not actually 9 months, yet.

Then today? I write a post and mention that Baby Ben is 8 months. Very good for myself, I thought. I didn't call him 9 months. I have a few more weeks until he is 9 months. And then? I get an email from Babycenter.com, "Your 9 Month old baby." Wow, they sent that out early, I thought. And this is how my morning went.

Not until lunch today did it dawn on me that TODAY Ben is 9 months!! Poor, poor Number Two! I would like to list a myriad of excuses, but I think most of my readers are mamas.....and ya'll completely understand, right?

So. Let's get to it! My first post today (before I realized that today was the 19th and needed to write another post) pretty much sums up the last week or so. Dreadful. For everyone. This cutting teeth business is not for wimps.

Ben is pulling up on everything. On surfaces I didn't think could be used to pull oneself up. The refridgerator? TV cabinet? And his favorite spot? In Andrew's blue chair. He grins from ear to ear when he actually makes it all the way in the chair. He is so proud of himself and a bit surprised if he makes it without an incident from the big brother. He also loves to crawl to Andrew's little potty. And play in the pee-pee if I forgot to dump it.

He loves to copy Andrew. If Andrew coughs, so does Ben. Andrew shreeks, Ben does the same. Andrew crawls in circles, Ben is not far behind. I am glad that the two can entertain each other some.

Ben has also become a daddy's boy. Loves his daddy. He will hold his arms out to his daddy and cry if you take him away from his daddy.

He loves, loves, loves the bathtub. Squeels and kicks his legs when I turn on the water. I think he would stay in the tub all day!

He is still eating a combination of finger foods and baby food. I have not made as much baby food this month. I gave him a pb&j today and he devoured it! He also loves pimento cheese, grilled cheese, french fries, banana's, cheerios, ritz crackers, and vanilla wafers. Ben nurses about four times a day. My goal was to make it to 10 months. Which, hello?, is right around the corner. That would mean I would need to start weaning him now. I am so not ready for that! And not because I am loving the "nursing experience", but because I nurse this one to sleep and am terrified of losing naps along with dropping feedings. Not to mention that I don't want to pay money for formula. So I guess I will wean when he can drink cow's milk and drop naps!

Despite the tooth situation, he is a delightful baby and we can't imagine our lives without the little monster.
