Anywho. (That and this are for you, Jen!)
I really don't have an excuse about not posting in almost a week. We haven't been terribly busy and actually stayed in town this weekend. Of course, I have spent a lot of time on the computer this week checking up on Stellan at www.mycharmingkids.net. It really boggles my brain that I have gotten attached to this little boy who (whom....not sure, mama) I have never even met.
When I am not refreshing the Twitter page of MckMama, I have been doing a little investigative work. On my tomato plants.
See evidence below:
After losing three tomatoes to an unknown culprit, I was surprised when I caught the thief red-handed the other day. As I was walking out of the garage, I noticed something flying away from my tomato plants.
That's right. A large bird was having a feast on my tomatoes!! But, birds don't eat tomatoes. Especially when I have a huge bird feeder filled with food only six feet from the plants.
Of course, I called my granddaddy. He affirmed that birds will actually peck at tomatoes. My only choices for saving my veggies were to (a) pick them early or (b)cover the plants. I went with the easiest option, A.
So, while I have had no more tomato casualties, the produce is very small. Delicious (obviously, if birds will eat them). But small.
I have one more tomato that I need to pick and then I will be done with the tomato plants. I still have a few bell peppers. Because birds apparently don't care for green bell peppers.
