Not for Weak Stomachs

It has been a long week around here. In fact, I have decided to skip cleaning the bathrooms in order to write this post. Because that is how dedicated I am.

It all started on Sunday when I got the brilliant idea to let Andrew skip his afternoon nap. My whole family wanted to attend the ribbon-cutting ceremony for the completion of Rob's building. So I was left with no babysitters. I figured it would just take me a day of early bedtimes and naps to get him back on track after missing a nap.

I am so naive.

Sunday night and all day Monday were a constant battle of trying to get him to go to sleep. And then to sleep longer than 45 minutes. He awoke both Sunday and Monday mornings at 4:30am and needed rocking for an hour to get back to sleep.

He was still exhausted when he went to school on Tuesday, but he managed to stay the whole morning. Before I put him down for his nap on Tuesday, I changed a very loose poopy diaper. But thought nothing of it other than, "I hope he is not getting sick".

I had a meeting on Tuesday night, and because Rob was out of town, Andrew had to stay at a baby sitter's. As we pulled out of the neighborhood on Tuesday evening, I heard Andrew coughing. And not a normal cough. I turned around just in time to see vomit projectile out of his mouth! And onto his pjs, the car seat, the floorboard, and the back of the passenger seat.

I cleaned Andrew up when we got home and put him to bed. Then tackled the vomit in the car and car seat. I spent an hour cleaning vomit out of the nooks and crannies of the car seat. And the vomit smell is still lingering in my car!! UGH!!

Wednesday and today have been full of poopy diapers. Diarrhea. His bottom is raw, and I have changed his sheets twice. I have washed a full load of poopy stained clothes, sheets, and washcloths. My hands are flaking from the constant hand washing.

Of course Rob was out of town this week and missed the double whammy of an exhausted and sick baby. He has impeccable timing. Little does he know, though, that Saturday will find him detailing the car seat.

Oh yuck! I'm not looking forward to those days! I don't deal well with vomit... mine or anyone else's! I hope little Andrew gets better soon and I hope you don't get it!
