An Overdue Update

Just what have I been up to this past year when I took a break from blogging? Well this:

And these.

Yep. We welcomed the the third Ward boy into our family on August 15, 2011. John Dixon Ward. I like to call him John Dixon, but he has been called everthing from John-John to plain John, to a very short JD. He is even called Ben sometimes. Well, okay, alot of times. But, to me anyway, it still feels like yesterday when Ben was Baby Ben.

Speaking of Ben, he likes to be referred to as "Big Boy". Not kidding. Depending on his wonderful 2 1/2 year old mood, he will actually correct me if I call him Ben or Benjamin. "No mama. Not call me Ben. I Big Boy. " So we like to play it safe around here and just refer to him as Big Boy.

Andrew will be five in a few very short weeks. That's all I can really say about that. Maybe if we don't tell him it's his birthday, he can stay four forever. Actually that won't work because we have already ordered an Iron Man cake that he has been talking about since his four year old birthday party.

So with an almost five year old, a 2 1/2 year old, and a ten month old, I feel like I am pretty much "in the trenches".  A time where the days are long and the years are short.

As I mentioned in an earlier post, I am not sure about the content on this blog. Should it be all about my kids? What the Lord is doing in my personal life? A little of both?

All I do know is this. This blog is not meant to be a place of comparison. I don't have anything figured out and my camera is broken. Nor is this blog meant to be a place where I tell all the mistakes I have made/make so that a reader can think, "Well, at least I didn't do what she did....." Sure, there will be times when I want to share some of what the Lord is teaching me and there will be times when I admit failure. But let's take a break from the burden of comparing ourselves to others, okay?

Afterall, as we often say in my Mama's Bible Group, "Comparison is the thief of joy."

Four really is the sweetest age, but five is awesome too. It just keeps getting better (and less back breaking) in my opinion. Your boys are so handsome at every age.

It's much easier to enjoy one another's lives when we realize that nobody has it figured out. You just tell what's happening in your world, whatever that looks like, and we'll all learn something about you and with you along the way.
