I think I posted a status update on Facebook that went something like, "Potty Training, VBSing, Teething, Crawling....". That has been my life this week. A whirlwind. Chaotic. Change.
Andrew's potty training is going pretty good. I put him in pull ups all morning for the first time on Monday because no VBS worker should have to change my sons pants all morning. Let's just say he was completely confused by the time he came home and had a few accidents that afternoon. But after I explained to his teacher that we were potty training and explained to him that his pull ups needed to be dry, then he had a dry nap and night, and then he got bumped up to an older VBS class, he has done swell. We have even ventured out in public with underpants. And? No accidents. I am learning how to juggle a baby on my hip while getting the pants down of a squirming two year (almost three!) old. Of course all of this is success with "number one". I am too tired to talk about "number two".
I am helping with the four year old VBS this year. This is the same age group I helped with last year, and I really love it. With the Preschool VBS I only have the children of those also helping with VBS. So unlike the kindergarten teachers who have 60 kiddo's, I only have about 16. And they are so sweet!
Andrew and Ben have loved VBS. Ben loves the one on one attention and eventually managed to take a nap. Andrew has taken an afternoon nap for the past two days. Even asking to take one today! I don't deny him a nap if he needs one, but .......oh, here he is.....in my bedroom......at 9:20pm.......UGH! And one would think that he would sleep a little later in the morning because he isn't actually falling asleep until close to 10. But no. He has been in my bedroom again every night between 2-4am. And then? Is back up at 6:30. Ben has also been up at 5am most mornings this week. So me? I am up at 2, 5, and 6. No wonder I am drained. I am cutting the boys lots of slack this week because of VBS, but next week? I am purchasing a digital clock for Andrew and will let Ben cry it out.
If Ben doesn't cut a tooth soon.......I think that kid has been teething since he was 5 months old! Even this past weekend, I just knew a tooth was going to poke through due to his extreme (for him) fussiness and inconsistent naps. But no tooth, yet!
And the biggest news? Ben is crawling. It is a slow, uncoordinated crawl. So slow, I was able to video his first crawl. I think that was Tuesday night and already this afternoon he made it to the other side of the den in about three minutes. I can't decide if my life will be easier with him crawling or harder? Thoughts?
So that is our week in a nutshell. Or a few paragraphs.
