Please Tell Me You Have Had This Conversation....

You (to husband on Sunday night): Honey, I am going grocery shopping tomorrow. Are there any nights this week when you know you won't be here for dinner?

Husband: No, I should be here every night.

You spend the next thirty minutes planning the menu for the week, checking out grocery deals, and organizing coupons. The next day, Monday, you spend about an hour between two grocery stores buying said groceries. (Keep in mind, you have already spent 1/2 an hour getting yourself and child ready to go to the grocery store and will spend about another 1/2 an hour unloading the groceries while trying to keep your one year old out of the refridgerator and pantry). It's a process, ya'll.

Husband (to you on Monday night during dinner): Oh, yeah....I forgot I have to go the mountains for a work related camping trip on Thursday night. So, I guess I won't be here for dinner then.

You (remaining calm, although slightly annoyed, because you are a pro at flexibility): Oh, well that's okay, we were just going to have leftovers for Thursday night anyway. We can just do leftovers on Wednesday night. I will rearrange the menu a little bit and no food will be wasted.

Husband (to you on Tuesday morning as he leaves for work): Oh, yeah.....I forgot I have this dinner thing to go to tonight. So, I guess I won't be here for dinner tonight either.

You (gritting teeth to keep from biting husband's head off, remain composed and smile sweetly, saying...): Oh, well....hmmm. This will be okay (more to self than husband). I can figure this out with a freezer and some creativity. Any more days you won't be here for dinner that you can think of? No...okay.....I love you (more to remind yourself than actually making a declaration to husband).

You've had this conversation, right??
